Tina M. Shultz Memorial Award

The 2009 winner of the Tina M. Schultz Memorial Award is Anna Mae Flick of Butler County. She is the 18 year old daughter of Randall and Elizabeth Flick of Fenelton, PA.  She has one sister, Abby.

This award is given annually to the County Dairy Princess who is judged to have done the most outstanding job of representing the dairy industry within her county. It is based on the number and types of appearances she has made as an individual at the county level and the local circumstances under which she has served.

Anna is a 2009 graduate of Butler High School and is currently a freshman at Butler County Community College studying nursing. At college, she is member of the student government and is a member of the nursing club. She is proud owner of Jersey dairy cattle and houses them at Ro-Ann Haven Farm in Chicora owned by the George Dean family. She is the Vice President of the Butler County 4-H Dairy Club, President of the Butler County 4-H County Council, Secretary of the Butler County 4-H Dunbar Club and is serving on the Butler County Dairy Promotion Committee.

While serving as dairy princess, Anna was active in high school by serving as the drill leader for the Butler Golden Tornado Marching Band, secretary of student council, President of the Good Will Ambassadors Club, sponsor agent for the Ebenezer Life Center in Kenya Africa, Rainbow Refuge Volunteer, volunteer for the covenant Food cupboard and active in her church and community activities. Anna is a busy young lady but still managed to fulfill her dairy promotion duties.

In a 365 day period, Anna was able to complete an extraordinary number of local promotions totaling 421 promotions and reaching over 84,629 consumers plus the thousands reached by newspaper articles and radio appearances. To accomplish this, Anna traveled over 6,416 miles in Butler County! Her county promotions to achieve this award include 224 school programs, 30 news articles, 22  radio appearances, 39 store and mall promotions, 39 non-farm presentations, 31 farm meetings and 36 special events.

The Tina M. Schultz Award is given annually in memory of the 1985-86 Huntingdon County Dairy Princess who did an outstanding job of promoting the dairy industry and its products while fighting a losing battle with cancer. The Tina Shultz Award winners must be dedicated, enthusiastic dairy promoters who are willing to go far beyond the “requirements” on behalf of the industry and its products. Anna has certainly qualified herself for this recognition on all levels of this award. You have had a busy senior year, but you went beyond your call of normal duty during a exciting time in your life and we are proud of you! Anna, you should be proud of your accomplishments to reach this award.

Congratulations – Anna!!
