2005 Seminar
Union City, PA: July is a busy month for the new “class” of Dairy Royalty, but county princesses, alternates, their parents and committee members attended this year’s training seminar for a great opportunity to learn more about the Dairy Industry that they are representing.
Conducted by Pennsylvania Dairy Princess and Promotion Services, Inc., the training session was held July 12-15, 2005 at Lycoming College, Williamsport, PA. One hundred twenty promoters including royalty, adults and speakers, from Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, Virginia and Delaware participated in three and a half days of intensive instruction on the “how tos” of dairy promotion. Nutritionists, industry personnel, dairy farmers and make-up consultants conducted workshops on all facets of the dairy industry. In addition, all fifty royalty gave speeches for adult audiences and skits for school children, which they were then given helpful suggestions on how to improve these presentations. The speeches and skits are used many times throughout their reign.
Former Pennsylvania Alternate Dairy Princess, Merideth Weidersphan Riddle (1996-97) of Crawford County got the program off to an exciting start Wednesday morning with her Keynote Address “ The Trek for True Treasure”. Using the idea of a treasure hunt and giving four true treasures to search for in life of love, joy, contentment and noble character. Citing examples from scripture and everyday life, Merideth was able to inspire the seminar attendees and encourage them on their life's pursuit.
Currently reigning, Pennsylvania Dairy Princess, Amy Hartle and her Alternates, Kelly Over and Sarah Wickard, welcomed the group with a “get to know me” game session and Pizza Party on Tuesday evening, July 12th and served as helpers, hostesses and workshop leaders throughout the Seminar. They also coordinated and appeared as models for the Fashion Show, which was moderated by Junia Isiminger, Executive Director of PDPPS, Inc.
